Letters to baby.

i have never in my life felt so much amazement than i did yesterday when we got to hear your heartbeat. it was the most perfect thing ever! you are a happy and healthy baby. your daddy and i couldn't be happier.

tuesday marked twelve weeks. i'm so very excited about ending the first trimester because that means you keep getting closer and closer to your big debut. hearing your heartbeat yesterday made my heart grow insanely larger. even though you're growing side my tum tum, i know just hearing your heart thump at a crazy 160 beats per minute made me feel so so so much closer to you. and i know your daddy feels the same.

not only did this experience make me feel ten times close to you, but it made me feel so much closer and so much more love for your daddy. i'm sure you don't want to hear this mushy stuff, am i right? you'll understand someday :).

so now the guessing game begins! i'm dying to know whether you are a little boy or a little girl. at your next appointment, an ultrasound is supposed to be scheduled for november. i cannot wait. even though i am crazily impatient, your daddy and i have decided to go with this: on the day of your ultrasound, we are going to ask the doctor to write your gender on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope. i think we decided to wait until we get home to open it. i told emily and heather (my two best friends that i promise are just as excited as i am for you to come into this world) really want to throw me a gender reveal party. i've heard of them and it sounds really exciting!

love,

your mama

Dear Baby.

you will learn in life that things aren't always fair or what they seem. it's unfortunate that you'll experience this and as much as i want to stop it for you, it's just natural. i just want you to know in advance that i will always protect you and love you from the bottom of my heart. i will be your rock and a shoulder to cry on. i'll be your nurse, your personal paparazzi (you'll get used to it), and your teacher. most importantly, i'll be a friend.

i'll always, always put anything i am doing to the side to pay full attention to you. whether you are telling me a joke, ranting about your day, or showing me a sweet dance move - i'll be there. i promise. i will listen with an open mind and promise to never judge you. because little one, you will be a reason i get out of bed in the morning (please excuse my insane hair) and who i rush home to see.
i love you daddy like crazy. and i know that even though he can't feel or see you yet, i know he is insanely crazy about you. he will also be your rock and always there for you. he will love you deeply and unconditionally. i'm going to go ahead and warn you that he will make you laugh until you are in tears (or pee your pants...) and he will definitely be the first one to turn a frown upside down. he has some crazy magical skills like that and i'm still trying to figure them out. you are so lucky to have such a wonderful man to call your dad.

i want every holiday dinner to be filled with joy and you to have the best costume at halloween. i want to show you christmas with tons of lights, pretty reindeer, and an overly decorated tree. i want to fill your easter basket with the coolest things any kid could have. most importantly, i want you to lean the true meaning of love and why family is number one in life.

love,

your mama
